BSD Certification developed the FreeBSD certification track after received feedback from a survey during the first beta exam. This track includes user exams, administrator exams, and developer exams. See http://www.bsdcertification.com/certs/allcerts.php for more details.
The FreeBSD Certification Track will allow for higher level certifications for those who complete the requirements. These higher level certification are titled as follows:
Certified FreeBSD Expert - Admin
Certified FreeBSD Expert - Developer
BSD Certification states that by making multiple specialized exam allows specialized administrators to be certified, while one or two comprehensive exam would hinder an administrators ability to certify their knowledge.
The next exam, the Certified FreeBSD Admin - Base exam, is expected to release in September. The word 'Base' in the name of the exam comes from the name of the minimal distribution set needed to install FreeBSD. This exam focuses on the FreeBSD components that will be contained in a minimal installation.
